Episode 2: Rhetoric and Rhetrickery

Welcome Everyone,

In episode 1 I discussed that I wanted to make the primary, the central thesis and purpose of this podcast to be the pursuit of understanding and the reduction of misunderstanding – that is the pursuit of rhetoric and reduction of rhetrickery.

So, let’s look for a bit of a deeper understanding of what we mean by this, by rhetoric and rhetrickery, especially since Oxford English Dictionary made the term “Post-Truth” its word of 2016 but I want to hold on to concepts of our previous “Pre-Truth” world and not surrender or give up on the power of questions as a way of pointing towards some version of the truth.

This means looking at the central point for this idea: Wayne C Booth’s The Rhetoric of Rhetoric.
